HARTLAND — A resident of the 8400 block of Ridge Road told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies that someone stole his Kubota rough terrain vehicle.
According to a report filed with NCSO, the complainant told patrol Sunday that the 2012 Kubota RTV 900 diesel was taken from behind his residence sometime between 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.
The man said because he works on a farm, the keys were always left in it. He also told police that he didn't report it immediately because "he wanted to make sure it was actually stolen before contacting the police." He said after he realized it was gone, he spoke with all his family and friends to make sure nobody borrowed it. He also checked the fields and woods behind his home with negative results.
The complainant said he was unsure who would have been responsible, but did say the RTV had minor damage to the front right brush guard and also a small rust spot in the same location. Patrol advised dispatch to enter the vehicle into NYSPIN as stolen.
The RTV was valued at $10,000, according to the report.
The investigation is ongoing and the Criminal Investigation Bureau was to be notified of the incident.
