Another new week at the Lockport Community Market on Canal Street introduces even more new offerings, including a free percussion workshops from the Niagara Art Trail.

The workshops will be presented by Jay and Xavier Krull from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, as well as July 26 in the first floor of 57 Canal Street just west of the gazebo. Each week will offer a different presentation.

Children will learn about percussion with hands-on time featuring a variety of traditional percussion instruments as well as everyday items which can be used to "make some noise." Each child will also be allowed to make their own instrument to take home with them during each session.

"I'm excited to be doing this with my son" Jay Krull stated. "My dad and I attended similar workshops when I was young, but we never put on such a seminar together. It's always a joy to introduce kids to music, particularly all the facets there are to percussion and to be doing it with my son is an added bonus."
