A storm moving across Western New York could produce flooding overnight and Monday. The storm may be dangerous, but the lightning over the lake is sure pretty to look at. (PHOTOS BY STEPHEN M. WALLACE / CONTRIBUTOR)

This two-pronged attack actually resulted in four strikes.
Fortunately they struck Lake Ontario.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for all of Western New York through 5 p.m. Monday.

An area of low pressure and a potent upper level disturbance is crossing through the region tonight through the first half of Monday, according to the weather service. This storm has the potential to produce locally heavy rainfall across portions of Western New York with 2 to 3 inches of rain possible in some locations where heavy rain persists the longest.

Excessive runoff from the heavy rainfall may produce flooding in poor drainage and low lying areas. If more widespread rainfall amounts reach 2 inches, flooding will also be possible along some of the area rivers and creeks.

"A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts," the weather service said. "You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings."

"Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop," the service continued.

And then there were three.
