NEWFANE — Emergency personnel from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office and numerous fire departments are stilll at an industrial fire at 2712 West Ave., which began around 8 p.m.
According to the Sheriff's Office, a man claimed he was working on a vehicle, which caught fire. The fire spread throughout the building. Multiple vehicles inside the building were destroyed as a result of the fire. The sole occupant in the building, evacuated safely.
At its peak, the fire could be seen for miles as thick black smoke spewed into the air. Fire departments responding included Miller Hose, Olcott, Wrights Corners, Wilson and South Wilson.
Niagara County Origin and Cause Unit are investigating the cause of the fire.
