Brendan Brady
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 24-year-old Clarence man was charged early Saturday morning with driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana after a South Transit Road traffic stop.

According to the NCSO arrest report, Brendan T. Brady, 9260 Valley Stream, Clarence, was seen around 2:12 a.m. swerving onto the middle turning lane several times, while traveling southbound on South Transit Road, near Robinson Road.

When patrol stopped the car Brady was driving, they could smell very strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle, and saw several small pieces of marijuana on Brady's lap, the arrest report says.

Asked about the smell, Brady told patrol, "I just got done smoking a bowl." He also handed patrol a clear plastic bag containing a small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe when asked if he had more marijuana, according to the report.

Brady failed field sobriety tests and was charged with DWI, driving while under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs, failure to keep right, operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He was taken to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office for further testing and processing. A chemical breath test determined Brady's blood alcohol content to be .06 percent. He was then taken to ENH-Lockport where a urine sample was taken. The urine sample was later secured into the refrigerated evidence locker in order to be sent to the laboratory for testing. The suspected marijuana and glass pipe were secured in an evidence locker  to be sent to the forensic laboratory.

Brady was held in the Niagara County Jail on $250 bail and is slated to appear in Town of Lockport Court on Tuesday.
