ENP STAFF REPORTS

The body of a 50-year-old woman was found this morning in the Erie Canal, according to the Lockport Police Department.
A release from LPD says the woman had been reported missing at 12:21 p.m. Sunday.
The woman's family found her vehicle Sunday alongside the canal near the Canal Road Bridge. A Niagara County Sheriff's Office bloodhound led a track from the woman's car to the canal, where LPD deployed its police boat and searched the canal for several hours with negative results.
The search continued this morning with the assistance of the New York State Police Dive team which eventually located the female in the canal.
No foul play is suspected at this time, however an autopsy is pending.
The woman's name is being withheld at this time.
