Gia Arnold
HOLLEY — Gia Arnold, the Holley woman who filed petitions to run against Maziarz on the Republican and Conservative lines, says she should receive the nominations reported to being declined by incumbent state Sen. George Maziarz.

"The Republican party refused to interview me in the spring, and endorsed George way back in February when they endorsed their federal candidates. Perhaps they should give me a shot at earning the line," she said this evening via Facebook.

Sources report that North Tonawanda Mayor Bob Ortt will be put in Maziarz spot on the GOP and Conservative lines.

Arnold cries foul.

"It seems strange to me that four days ago, they turned in petitions ... for him to not take the nomination," she said via phone this evening.

She questions the wisdom of selecting Ortt as the candidate, saying that someone from within Maziarz' inner circle "can play the game that he's been playing all along."

"I wonder if that's why the parties have been ignoring me is because they know I won't play their games," she said. "You've got to worry that this could be just another pawn in the republican party."

Arnold further states that Ortt may not be in touch with the 62nd Senate District, being from North Tonawanda.

"I would have to worry that he might not be able to recognize all of the needs of the district," she said.
