TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A sick animal may have prevented a burglary Sunday morning at Randleigh Animal Hospital, 7312 Chestnut Ridge Road.
Niagara County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the clinic around 2:13 a.m. after the owner of the clinic told patrol that when he had arrived to drop off a sick animal when he noticed a man attempting to make entry to the back door of the animal hospital. The man fled as the owner pulled into the parking lot.
Patrol checked the area with negative results but did find a pickup truck in the lot which belonged to a Niagara Falls man. Shortly thereafter, patrol found another suspicious vehicle in front of the Lockport Town & Country Club which was registered to the same address in Niagara Falls.
Sheriff's deputies interviewed the woman in the vehicle at the Town & Country Club who told them she was there to pick up the the driver of the truck. Patrol finally spoke to the driver of the truck late Sunday night. He told them that his truck had broken down around 12:45 a.m. and he walked to a friend's.
The man's truck is being held pending the outcome of the investigation.
