NEW YORK — Family Travel Forum, an award-winning resource for family vacation planners, is holding its eighth annual FTF Teen Travel Writing Scholarship program.

In association with "I Love New York," FTF is promoting literacy by encouraging teens to share their travel experiences in words and images.

The ILNY Teen Travel Writing Scholarship will be awarded to the best blogs about travel in New York state. The first-place winner will receive $1,000, the second-place winner will receive $500 and the third-place winner will receive $250. Additionally, all teen writers who enter have the chance to serve as a New York State Teen Travel Ambassador and have their submission considered for publication on the official "I Love New York" blog.

The scholarship contest is open to students ages 13 to 18 who are enrolled in a junior high, high school or a homeschool program in the United States, Canada or American school abroad. Students are asked to submit a maximum 600-word essay on any type or any aspect of a trip they have taken in the last five years, along with a photo or video. For more information, eligibility, rules and scholarship applications, visit www.myfamilytravels.com/Teen_travel_writing.

The 2014 Teen Travel Writing Scholarship submission period runs through July 27, and selected blogs will be published on Family Travel Forum's site www.MyFamilyTravels.com. The winning students' work will be announced on October 23.
