Lockport Police under the direction of Capt. Anthony Palumbo held a safety check point at Lincoln Avenue near South Transit Street late this morning.

LPD officers await their next "customer" at this morning's
traffic safety checkpoint.
In a matter of minutes, LPD had found a female who was driving with a suspended license and an equipment violation - and three more vehicles for various violations.

Police say the purpose of these check point are to make sure all drivers and vehicles on the road are safe and the laws are being upheld.

"A suspended driver who is driving with no insurance could be a lifelong nightmare to the properly insured driver that they hit," according to LPD.

Safety checks will be held in various locations day and night through out the summer.
