TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A Strauss Road man was charged Friday afternoon with petit larceny after Walmart employees say he stole a card game from the store.
Jon E. Thiel, 23, 6137 Strauss Road, was seen by Walmart employees taking seven packages of "Magic: The Gathering" cards around 2:30 p.m., according to his arrest report. Four of those packages were found in his pockets after he was detained and another three packages fell from his underwear, the report said.
"Thiel stated to patrol that he had forgotten that he put the three additional packages inside his underwear," the report said. "Thiel further stated that he is between jobs at the moment and had no money to buy the game cards for himself. Thiel stated that he recently started playing 'Magic: The Gathering,' and it was similar to Dungeons and Dragons, but a lot more fun."
He was given an appearance ticket for Town of Lockport Thursday. The stolen merchandise was secured by store security.
