ENP STAFF REPORTS
news@eastniagarapost.com
TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Niagara County Sheriff's deputies looking for details about a traffic accident instead got a confession of drug possession.
Deputies were called to Tops plaza on South Transit Road around 9 a.m. for a report of a property damage accident. While searching the parking lot for the complainant, they happened upon 50-year-old Scott A. Hinman, 7216 Rapids Road sitting in his car.
According to the report, Hinman, found with green leafy vegetable matter on his lap, was asked what he was doing?
"I was going to roll a joint, but I guess I'm not going to anymore," he replied.
He admitted to patrol that the green leafy vegetable matter was in fact marijuana and was taken into custody without incident. The vegetable matter field tested positive for marijuana and Hinman was released a short time later on a appearance ticket and ordered to appear in the Town of Lockport Court.
Patrol transported the evidence back to NCSO and secured it in an evidence locker.
