Nicholas Holzman
NEWFANE — A Newfane man was sent to the hospital and an Olcott man was sent to Niagara County Jail following an alleged assault Tuesday afternoon.

According to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, 33-year-old Nicholas Holzman, 1597 Althea Ave., Olcott, burst into a Grace Avenue, Newfane home and assaulted a man in the living room.

The report states that Holzman walked up to the man and said "What's up punk?" before punching him in the face and head. A female yelled for Holzman to stop, which he did eventually. Holzman then left the residence without further incident.

While interviewing the complainant, patrol noticed a large amount of blood all over his face, hands, and the floor. Patrol requested EMS personnel respond to the scene to evaluate his injuries. He had several lacerations on his face and head that required suturing.

The complainant stated that he experienced temporary blindness in his right eye for a period of approximately five minutes following the assault. He was transported by Miller Hose to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Newfane for further treatment.

A warrant was issued for Holzman's arrest and an order of protection was issued to the male and female complainants.

Holzman later turned himself in to Sheriff's deputies and was charged with assault with intent to cause physical injury.
