LEWISTON — A Bixler Road man thought a man in the parking lot of Smokin' Joes, 2293 Saunders Settlement Road, Lewiston looked suspicious Friday afternoon. So he asked his wife to keep an eye on the car while they were inside the store.
The wife says what she saw was the man her husband thought looked suspicious going through their car. She told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies that she ran outside and grabbed the man, who told her "I'm just looking."
The man, identified as 31-year-old Jeremy Clark, 109 Riverview Dr., Buffalo, then took out of his pocket a Nextar GPS unit that belonged to the Newfane couple and said "Sorry, please don't call the cops my mom is right there," according to the report filed with NCSO.
The couple restrained the man until deputies could arrive. When they did, Clark was charged with petit larceny and transported to Niagara County Jail on $250 bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lewiston court on Tuesday for arraignment.
According to the report, Clark appeared to be under the influence of drugs at the time of arrest. He told patrol that he was on pain medications.
East Niagara Post now publishes garage and yard sales.
