news@eastniagarapost.com
A 17-year-year-old Ruhlman Road resident was charged Saturday with making 45 harassing phone calls to 911, including at least one where he threatened to stab the dispatcher who answered the emergency line.
According to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Matthew C. Hathaway, 6142 Ruhlman Road, Apt. 2, Hathaway was arrested after he was advised to stop calling the Sheriff's' Office 911 line for non-emergency calls but continued.
Sheriff's records indicated that he placed 45 such calls from 8:11 to 9:13 p.m. Saturday.
After being detained, he said he made the calls because he thought "it was funny and he was joking around," according to the arrest report.
He was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment and held on $500 bail. He is to appear in Town of Lockport Court on Thursday.
