West Lane in Lewiston is being evacuated due to  "an
incident." Other area residents are asked to stay put or
leave. (GOOGLE MAPS SCREENSHOT)
LEWISTON — The New York State Police and Lewiston Police are currently handling what they're only referring to as "an incident on West Lane in the Village of Lewiston."

Police are asking that residents on West Lane evacuate their residences and leave the area until the incident has been resolved. Residents on Mohawk between North Seventh Street and East Lane are asked to stay away from the area and police units and to stay in their residence unless it is necessary for them to leave. Residents on Oxbow Lane between North Fifth and East Lane are also asked to avoid the area and police units and to stay in their residence unless necessary to leave. Residents on East Lane are asked to stay in their residence or leave the area and to not approach police units.

Further details will be released as they become available.

Police thank the public for cooperation in this matter.
