TOWN OF LOCKPORT — When Niagara County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call to check the welfare of a motor vehicle driver on Amy Lane, they say they found a gray pickup truck stopped in the eastbound lane, running, in drive — and a man sleeping.

After placing the truck in park and turning it off, patrol woke the driver, Joshua Bass, 37, 39 Waterman Street.

Bass admitted to police that he had "had some beer earlier." Asked if he thought he should be driving, he said "no, probably not," according to the report filed.

After failing field sobriety tests, Bass was charged with DWI and taken to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office to complete paperwork. He is to appear in Town of Lockport Court on June 3.
