TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A woman told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies that late Saturday night that someone destroyed her neighbor's mailbox.
The woman told patrol that while she was standing in her front yard at approximately 11:22 p.m., a dark colored SUV or crossover type vehicle of an unknown make and model pulled up to her neighbor's mailbox. While the vehicle was in front of the mailbox, he woman said that she believed she heard a clicking sound and saw what appeared to be a small flash. As the unknown vehicle pulled away, she heard a bang and the mailbox was forced off the mailbox post into the street.
The value of the damaged mailbox was estimated by its owner to be approximately $40.
Patrol said that there was no physical evidence to clearly indicate the use of any explosive or fireworks in damaging the mailbox.
