Lockport Cave and Underground Boat Rides posted an image from the set this morning on their Facebook page. Lockport Cave was one of the local filming locations on April 6. Filming was also done in Buffalo.
Producers used about 40 extras from Western New York. They reportedly fought off imaginary alligators, which would later be added to the film digitally. But were they alligators to be added later? Or sharks?
Movies are often filmed with code names or aliases, especially high profile films. The social media buzz around the the original "Sharknado" movie could put it in the category of film that would need protected.
A source who asked to remain unidentified said that the director in town for the "Alligator Attack," Anthony C. Ferrante, was the same person who directed Sharknado. And he is only said to be working on one project — Sharknado 2. The source also said that some paperwork filed for the film had "Sharknado 2" written on it.
"Sharknado 2" is rumored to be set in New York City, as was "Alligator Attack."
The sequel to the campy summer "Sharknado" will feature Tara Reid and Ian Ziering, reprising their roles. It will also feature Vivica A. Fox, Kelly Osbourne, Mark McGrath, Billy Ray Cyrus, Andy Dick, and former WWE superstar Kurt Angle. The film is scheduled for a release on July 30.
A call to the Asylum's California offices did not turn up any immediate details. The person who would be able to answer wasn't yet in the office.
