Market Street Studios is holding a community day on Friday, inviting the public to visit the studios and meet the artists.

Participating studios are offering discounts during the event in hopes of enticing as much community involvement as possible. The Art & Soul Gift Shop will also offer 10 percent off during the event.

Artwork in the studios is vast and varied, comprised of acrylic, oil, pastel and watercolor paintings, chainsaw sculptures, embroidery, jewelry, pencil, photography, portraits, pottery, printmaking and even puppetry.

Currently 36 different artists have studios in the 100-year-old former Western Block Company building located at 247 Market St. Many artists are expected to be on hand for the event and will be available to discuss their works.

In addition to art and discounts, there will be pizza, pop, and live music on both floors of the building from 4-8 p.m.

The Whalen, Weld & Watkins exhibit which opened on Sunday will also be open for viewing.

ENP Contributing Photographer Heather N. Grimmer will have several works for display and sale during Friday's open house at Market Street Studios.
