A 30-year-old Lockport man's attempt to get socks and underwear for his daughters resulted in petit larceny charges Wednesday night.
The man, Pernell L. Hobbs, 15 Pound St., was charged after he was found to have stolen five pairs of girls socks and a pair of underwear from Dollar General on South Transit Road around 7:30 p.m., according to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. The total value of the socks and underwear was $15.
When asked why he took the items without paying for them Hobbs told patrol, "I haven't bought my kids nothing in a long time. I'm sorry man."
He was released on an appearance ticket and ordered to appear in Town of Lockport Court on May 1.
