Lisa Smith
A city woman was charged on Thursday with forging $1,023 in checks, written on a Town of Lockport man's account.

According to a report filed by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Lisa A. Smith, 46, 295 Beattie Ave., Apt 1, had written two checks off the account of a Lincoln Place man. One check was for $500, while the second was for $523.

Sheriff's deputies spoke with Smith on Thursday and she admitted to stealing the checks and forging the Town of Lockport man's name on them.

She was charged with two counts of secon-degree forgery one count of fourth-degree grand larceny. She was arraigned in Town of Lockport Court before being transported to Niagara County Jail where she was held on $500 bail. She is to return to Town of Lockport Court on Wednesday.
