Enjoy temperatures in the 40s today and Tuesday. Then brace for snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for late Tuesday night through late Wednesday night throughout Western New York. The storm is expected to bring heavy snow throughout the region with accumulations of 7 to 12 inches.

"Moderate to heavy snow may produce very difficult travel conditions with snow covered roads and poor visibility, increasing winds will produce blowing and drifting snow Wednesday afternoon and night," according to an alert from the weather service, which said it held "medium" confidence that the situation would pan out as warned about.

Today's high will be 42 with an overnight low of 35 with rain. Tuesday's high is forecast as 45 with an overnight low of 27 and snow. Wednesday will be a high of 28 and a low of 4 with a 100 percent chance of snow during the day and an 80 percent chance of snow overnight.

Thursday brings a high of 17 and a low of 10, followed by a return to warmth Friday with a high of 39 and a low of 30. Saturday offers a high of 37 and a low of 21.
