Seven is enough. The Buffalo Sabres have halted their losing skid, winning 3-1 tonight to the Edmonton Oilers.
Sabres goaltender Matt Hackett stopped 35 of the 36 shots that he faced in his first NHL win.
Edmonton started the scoring off with a power play goal by Taylor Hall with 2:12 left in the first period.
Sabres Cory Conacher tied it on a power play goal of his own 9:16 into the second. Conacher tipped in a Jamie McBain shot on net for the goal.
Conacher notched another — his sixth of the season — 1:09 into the third and Drew Stafford rounded out the scoring three and a half minutes later.
With the win, the Sabres are now 20-42-8. Their next game is Sunday in Vancouver.
