Michael Kuhn
A South New York Street man was charged with aggravated DWI and leaving the scene of an accident on Tuesday after allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run accident with a pregnant woman.

According to a report by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred at the intersection of Lincoln and Beattie avenues in the City of Lockport around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday. The report said that the offending driver, Michael J. Kuhn, left the scene and went to his home at 32 South New York St., where he was found by Sheriff's deputies.

Initially Kuhn — who appeared intoxicated — denied to patrol that he had been driving the vehicle, telling police that he had been sleeping on the couch for "a while." He then recanted and said that he had been at "the pub" on Lincoln where he had "a beer." He still denied having been in an accident, however, a position he recanted later, as well.

Patrol arrested Kuhn for driving while intoxicated and had his vehicle towed with a 12-hour hold placed. Patrol then brought Kuhn to the Sheriff's Office where he was found to have a .19% blood alcohol content.

At the department, Kuhn asked Patrol about the other people in the car that he struck. Patrol told him that the driver was a pregnant female and that she went to the hospital to be evaluated.

According to the report, Kuhn stated, "Oh great, now I'm a drunk driver that hit a pregnant lady."

He was taken to the Niagara County Jail where his bail was set at $250. He was given a court date in the City of Lockport on Tuesday.
