New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency for Western New York due to the impending blizzard.
The state of emergency declaration allows the state to assist in plowing and salting non-state routes and will allow for other assistance to municipalities as need be.
Niagara County has a travel advisory, issued by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. A travel ban, however, has not yet been declared. County offices, all East Niagara schools and several other government offices and businesses are closed this afternoon and evening.
