NIAGARA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - This home at 124 Elmhurst Drive in the Woodlands was lost to fire this morning. No one was hurt in the fire.

A town of Lockport family lost its home to fire this morning.

Rapids, South Lockport and Clarence fire companies were dispatched to the scene around 11 a.m., as were state police and the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. Upon arrival the residence was fully engulfed.

The fire completely destroyed the home at 124 Elmhurst Drive. Fortunately, though, no lives were lost in the blaze. All residents and pets got out OK.

State police say that the apparent cause of the fire was the improper use of a propane heater to thaw frozen pipes.
