The National Weather Service has extended the wind chill warning in effect for East Niagara until early Wednesday morning.
Winds are expected to range between 25 and 35 mph with wind chills in the -20 degree range until approximately 4 a.m.
"Dangersously cold wind chills will pose a risk for frost bite and hypothermia for anyone outside for even very short periods of time," according to an arert put out by the weather service. "This is a life-threatening cold for those not in shelter."
Temperatures begin to warm up on Wednesday, which offers a high of 17 degrees and a low of 11 with a chance of snow. Thursday will be partly sunny with a high of 22 and a low of 17. The weekend forecast calls for temperatures approaching 40 degrees.
