A 52-year-old Olcott man was arrested by Niagara County Sheriff's deputies Wednesday evening and charged with DWI on his way home from a Lockport bar.
According to the Sheriff's Office report, dispatch was warned of a reckless driver headed northbound on Lockport-Olcott Road. Patrol caught up with the driver, Matthew S. Oates of Lake Street in Olcott, and attempted to pull him over. Oates finally pulled over after NCSO got in front of his car and slowed down.
Oates told NCSO that he was on his way home from a bar in Lockport. He refused breath tests, was arrested and charged with driving on shoulders, driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and refusal to take the breath test. He was remanded to Niagara County Jail on $250 bail and is set to go to Newfane Town Court on Tuesday.
