A 16-year-old female resident of Purdy Road told Niagara County Sheriff's deputies on Wednesday that a 29-year-old man has been spreading rumors about her on social media sites.

The girl said the man has been communicating with uninvolved third parties, and claiming that she has been engaging in promiscuous behavior. She told NCSO that the man has never attempted to send or receive anything sexually explicit via electronic device, nor has he ever made romantic advances toward her.

Patrol attempted to make contact with with the man, with negative results. The girl was told that the man's behavior is inappropriate but not illegal and that they would follow up with him at a further date.
