The National Weather Service says the current snowfall will continue throughout the day, gradually shifting from East Niagara to northern Erie and Genesee counties.
Snowfall rates of up to an inch per hour are likely, creating slick spots and snow covered roadways. The blowing snow means greatly reduced visibility to less than a mile at times, making for difficult driving conditions.
Saturday isn't expected to be much better with snow expected to pile up to a total of four to eight inches and continued driving hazards.
